Blackout Shades

Blackout Shades for Bedrooms, Nurseries & Media Rooms

Blackout shades use an opaque fabric that stops light passing through the shade, so bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms stay dark and private at any hour.

Why choose it

What blackout shades do best

Room darkening

Opaque fabric blocks light through the shade itself, for sleep, shift work and screens.

Privacy day and night

Nothing shows through, even with the lights on inside.

Sun and heat

A closed blackout shade blocks most of the sun on that window.

Getting the darkest result

A blackout fabric alone does not mean zero light: a standard roller shade leaves small gaps at the edges. Mounting the shade outside the window frame and using a cassette, fascia or pocket where the window allows improves light control. Blackout fabrics are made as roller shades and Roman shades, and can be paired with a solar layer in a dual shade setup where the system supports it.
