Cellular Shades

Custom Cellular Shades for Comfort and Calm

Cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, are made from two layers of pleated fabric joined to form a row of air pockets. Seen from the side, each pleat is a small cell. That structure gives the shade a soft, tailored look and holds a layer of air at the window, which helps rooms feel more comfortable through the seasons.

Custom-made to your measurements, with consultation and installation throughout New York City. Choose a light-filtering fabric for a soft, even glow or a blackout fabric for darker rooms, and we build each shade to fit your window precisely.

What Cellular Shades Offer

  1. 01

    Insulating structure

The honeycomb cells trap air at the window, adding a layer of insulation against heat and cold.

  2. 02

    Soft, diffused light

Light-filtering fabrics spread daylight evenly across the room.

  3. 03

    Darker rooms when needed

Blackout fabrics give bedrooms and nurseries more darkness.

  4. 04

    Quieter rooms

Layered fabric helps soften sound and echo.

  5. 05

    Compact stack

Fine pleats fold tightly at the top, keeping more of the glass clear when raised.

  • Apartments and townhouses

A neat, compact stack that suits standard window frames.

Care & Maintenance

  • Dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction, working along the pleats.
  • Blow out dust or small insects from the cells with a hair dryer on the cool setting.
  • Spot-clean gently with a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid soaking the fabric.
  • Lower the shade fully from time to time to help the pleats keep their shape.

Measuring & Installation

A close fit matters with cellular shades, because a well-measured shade reduces light gaps and makes the most of the insulating cells. Our team measures every window, advises on inside or outside mounting and installs each shade. Apollo custom-fabricates shades in Brooklyn and installs throughout New York City.
