Custom Grommet Drapes with a Clean, Relaxed Look
Grommet drapery has metal rings set directly into the heading, and the rod passes through them. As the drapes open and close, the fabric folds forward and back between the rings into deep, even waves. The look is clean and casual, a little less formal than pleated drapery, and the panels slide easily along the rod.
Custom-made to your measurements, with consultation and installation throughout New York City. You choose the fabric, lining, grommet size and rod, and we make each panel to your exact width and length.
What Makes Grommet Drapes Easy to Live With
- 01
Clean, casual style
Bold, even folds and a simple heading suit modern and relaxed interiors.
- 02
Effortless glide
Rings slide straight along the rod, so panels open and close with a light pull.
- 03
Decorative hardware
The rod and rings are part of the look, so the finish adds to the design.
- 04
Consistent folds
Evenly spaced grommets keep the waves uniform across the panel.
- 05
Works with linings
Add blackout lining for privacy and darker rooms.
Grommet & Rod Options
Grommet size and finish
- 1.5"
- A smaller ring for a neat, lighter heading on slimmer rods.
- 2"
- A versatile size that suits most rods and fabrics.
- 2.5"
- A larger ring for bolder headings and thicker rods.
- Finish
- Grommet finishes are chosen to match or complement your rod; we review the options with you at consultation.
Rods and fullness
- Decorative rod
- Grommets run on an exposed rod with finials; the rod diameter must suit the grommet size.
- Returns and brackets
- Bracket position controls how far the drapes sit from the wall and how much light escapes at the sides.
- Fullness
- More fabric per width gives deeper, fuller folds; less gives a flatter, simpler look. We recommend fullness to suit the fabric weight.
Grommet Drape Fabrics
Grommet drapes work with an extensive selection of drapery fabrics, from relaxed linen blends to heavier velvets and blackout-lined panels. Medium and heavier weights hold the folds best; very fine sheers suit ripple fold or pleated headings better.
Linen Blend
Natural linen texture with added durability.
Velvet
Rich, heavy drape with excellent light blocking.
Silk Blend
A silk-like drape with a subtle sheen.
Blackout Lined
Full blackout with thermal insulation.

Care & Maintenance
- Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment, including along the heading.
- Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth, then follow the fabric care label.
- Use professional cleaning for lined panels so the grommets and lining stay intact.
- Wipe the rod occasionally so the rings keep sliding smoothly.
Measuring & Installation
Grommet drapes sit below the rod, so the length is measured from the rod position, not the top of the window. The rod width, bracket placement and stack space at each side all affect the final look. Our team measures each window, sets the rod height and installs the hardware and drapery. Apollo is based in Brooklyn and installs throughout New York City.
